A Review, a Revisit and a Cafe

We are almost halfway through April and I’ve barely been shooting this year so far but I’m trying to change that.

I have now released my Canon RF 35mm f/1.8 STM IS review over at The Photography Enthusiast which the featured image at the top of the page is for.

Aside from that I’ve had 2 photo outings of sorts. The first one was me just simply going to QVB here in Sydney to take the image you see below.

QBV Sydney at 16mm

I haven’t used the 16mm much but indoor shots with limited space is where this lens does really well.

Once I can travel, I feel I can really push my creativity by relying on this and the RF 35mm. It will be great if that rumored sub $1000USD full frame camera from Canon releases this year as if it’s small and light enough, I could carry that with the 16mm and the R6 with the 35mm when I travel.

In order to afford that I’ll need to sell the rest of my EF-M gear but that’s something I don’t mind doing.

Cafe 0.6

It was possibly a few months ago my girlfriend discovered a new place called Cafe 0.6 which has quickly become our favorite. I’ve gone many times already but this time I brought along my Canon EOS R6 and RF 50mm f/1.8 STM.

Here are some of the images I took while there.

Easter Decorations
Bacon and Egg Bagel
Cappuccino
Matcha Latte
Forest Mushrooms

One thing I noticed is the RF 50mm doesn’t do tell well sharpness wise near MFD. The DOF in these situations would obviously be tiny but you can still tell the difference between a soft image and a very shallow DOF.

Having a sharp but also light and small 50mm f/1.4 would be amazing but I think relying on the 35/85 combo is still my best bet.

There’s another spot I want to try during this Easter Break so I’ll probably take the 35mm with me and if it wasn’t for the fact I take this images at cafes while eating, I’d love to use 85mm if I had unlimited time/space.

I’m keeping this one short and sweet so thanks for reading and please subscribe at the bottom of the page to be notified whenever I release a new post.
