When putting together a camera kit there’s a lot of different ways you can go.
Some people prefer zooms while others prefer primes but for me, I like a mix of both. I find in the mid range from around 24mm to 100mm you can easily shoot with primes and ‘zoom with your feet’. When it comes to shooting really wide or long, then that’s where zooms really come in handy.
In saying that, above you can see my final lineup which has the following:
- Sony Alpha a7IV
- Sony FE PZ 16-35mm f/4 G
- Sony FE 35mm f/1.4 GM
- Sigma 85mm f/1.4 DN Art
- Tamron 70-180mm F/2.8 Di III VXD
I got good coverage from 16mm to 200mm with only a few gaps. I could add a 50mm but I personally don’t think it’s needed. There is also the option to get rid of my 85mm and replace it with a 135mm prime but I do find the former more versatile so I likely won’t make that change.
For this image, it was taken with the Fujifilm X-S10 + XF 33mm f/1.4 R LM WR. This is why I like having a second body of another brand, makes taking photos like this much easier.
