It’s that time of year to unveil my highly anticipated but very unimportant top 5 photos of 2025!

Considering that I barely took photos this year, I didn’t have many images to choose from. As you can see 3 out of 5 are cityscapes so clearly that was the theme of my photography this year.

In terms of the images themselves, the first sunrise cityscape was taken when a friend was visiting from Queensland and it was the first time I had actually shot sunrise in years, I was also glad I did because of the images I got. The next cityscape was taken after dinner one night in Barangaroo when I took my camera with me. It was a location I had wanted to revisit for quite some time and I got some pretty nice weather on that evening.

The image of the fruit loops was taken for a Flickr group weekly theme and something that I actually found really fun to shoot and would like to do more. Often with the challenges from these groups I don’t have any idea what to shoot for them so I just skip them, but instead I should push myself to actually be creative and come up with something.

The next image is a skyscraper above Strand Arcade here in Sydney. I was out taking photos and I never really looked up at these buildings so when I randomly did one day, the light was very interesting at that time of the morning so I captured this image. It’s interesting too as these buildings look so tall but compared to many cities across the world , our buildings are quite small.

The last image was taken when I went on another short photo walk. The lighting above this pathway was really nice and with the fallen leaves everywhere it made for a beautiful scene. I waited here for a while until someone was walking into the right spot and captured the image.

What’s in store for 2026?

I can’t say for sure but I certainly hope it holds a lot more photography than I done this year. I recently discussed about the possibility of getting the newly released Sony Alpha a7V over on TPE which I have now decided that I will get the camera. I may not get it immediately as it does depend on prices, but it’s enough of an upgrade over the a7C II to warrant the swap.

I’m also hoping to do more reviews over on TPE with all the gear I haven’t talk about yet. That’s pretty much it for me so happy holidays and new year to everyone who reads this!
