The Tree Is Up, Xmas Time Is Now

We are a matter of weeks away from not only Christmas but the end of 2025 which is crazy how fast the year has flown by. In fact since COVID I feel time has just sped up so much, sadly so has my age 😭

Now back on topic, we felt our old tree was too a bit old so about a month ago we got this new and smaller one and set it up. It’s a much smaller and simpler tree than what we had before but it does the job.

The full image of the tree was taken with my 35GM and the more focused images of the star were with my 85mm Art which I’ve continued to use a lot. In fact using my 35mm felt so weird and foreign to use, it felt a lot wider than what I was used to as I had been shooting at 85mm so much for the last few months.

Last but not least is my final review for 2025 which will be the Sony FE 35mm f/1.4 GM! I’ve owned this lens since I first swapped back to Sony and ironically enough, it’s my most used lens yet I never wrote a review for it.

Despite the fact I have written a fair few reviews, I actually find them challenging to make as I feel there’s only so much you can say about a lens. It’s sharp, has nice bokeh, great autofocus etc. which is honestly true of most modern lenses. If anything, it may be more beneficial to do a post of all the camera gear I owned and sold with the reasons why I didn’t keep them.

Regardless, the review is finished and will likely release mid week over on The Photography Enthusiast. Once it does release, I’ll likely post it on here as a click through link to make it easy for everyone to find.

For the 35GM image I used the Sigma 105mm f/2.8 Macro since it’s my go to product photography lens. I also used natural light from the camera left with a reflector on the camera right.

Last but not least, the title is a play on words for “your time is up, my time is now” which is a saying from John Cena who is retiring in a weeks time! Thanks for reading and I’ll be back soon with that review post and a top 5 of 2025 soon enough.
