Saying Goodbye to the Sony Alpha a7C II

A few days ago, I said goodbye to the Sony Alpha a7C II and sent it off to its new owner after owning it for a few years now. I really enjoyed this camera, it was an amazing size that made it easy to travel with but after getting the Sony Alpha a7V I found it hard to justify keeping both.

In previous years I had always owned 2 bodies, one Full Frame and one APSC. With the current prices of cameras, it made owning an APSC fairly pointless from a financial standpoint as there is very little in terms of pricing difference. For example, the Sony Alpha a6700 has gone on sale for $1689 recently which appeared to be an all time low whereas the a7C II had gone on sale for as low as $2200 (only $1899 if you get a damaged box deal from Sony directly). There is a $511 price difference at most, but you are getting a Full Frame body so that needs to be taken into consideration.

If I wanted to go with Fuji, then the body price would be similar or even higher but I’d need to spend even more for X Mount lenses. Back to the point, I would have loved to have kept this body, but I just couldn’t justify it when selling it has greatly reduced the cost of my new a7V. Plus the issue with owning two bodies that aren’t the same specs is you feel the difference when shooting with them.

My Sony a7C II was like new with a shutter count under 5k so I’m sure it will serve its new owner well.
