Blue Hour at Blackwattle Bay in Sydney

Blue Hour at Blackwattle Bay in Sydney

Last weekend I had some free time so decided to go to a location not too far from me to capture a sunset/blue hour shot of Anzac Bridge which you can see at the top of the page. The details for that shot are as follows:

  • Sony Alpha a7IV
  • Sony FE PZ 16-35mm f/4 G
  • 20mm
  • ISO 100
  • f/7.1
  • 30 Seconds

I’ve shot this bridge before from a further away view but I wanted to try something closer up with more of the city view. I believe I was using my 3 stop ND filter when I took this, along with a CPL.

In about two weeks time it will be the start of daylight savings which means I won’t be going out to take photos much any more. Sunset will be around 8pm the closer it gets to Summer which is too late for me since I try to sleep at 9pm.

I have one more spot in mind to shoot from next week so hopefully I’m able to go there and make the most of the last week of normal sunset times.

Time to Upgrade

In less interesting news, I’m getting a new phone!

The image below is of my Apple iPhone XS Max which I’ve had for around 4 years now and is on its last legs. It may look like it’s in good condition still as I take care of it, but internally it has it’s issue due to age.

I’m planning to get an iPhone 15 Plus as it’s cheaper than the Pro Max and I couldn’t care less about the cameras on them. I primarily use my desktop for everything and although many smartphone images in very bright sunlight can look nice on a mobile screen, you can really see their issues on a high resolution desktop.

Regardless, this phone has served me well and I’m excited to get my new one tomorrow (hopefully). If you’ve enjoyed this post and like to be notified of future ones, please subscribe below.

Beautiful capture! The phone does looks like itโ€™s in good condition! I’m also the one to use a computer primarily. Nowadays, there are a lot of people who do everything using a phone (like video editing) and don’t even own a computer, which is impossible to people like us. ๐Ÿ˜…

Thanks Joey! Just like my cameras, I try to baby it and keep it as pristine as much as I can! If I could only own, Iโ€™d give up my phone without hesitation ๐Ÿ˜‚
