Earlier in the year I had a weekend trip to Melbourne, Australia which I never really got around to posting the images from but here we are.
Being that Melbourne is a 90 minute flight from Sydney, it’s one of the easiest places to visit for us Sydneysiders. Admittedly I hadn’t enjoyed Melbourne as much on previous trips but maybe it’s the city builder in me (Cities Skylines 2 and SimCity addict) but this time around I really appreciated Melbourne’s design in a way.
I found Melbourne has a lot of mixed zoning as in you got shops etc on the ground level then apartments at the top. Because of this I found every block of the city to be much busier which I really liked. If you look at Sydney, we got our busy areas like Haymarket, World Square etc but you have areas that are shops or offices only (like Martin Place) so during the weekends they’re a ghost town. I’m sure there are parts of the Melbourne CBD like this but doesn’t seem anywhere near as bad.
Now time to discuss the photography aspect of the trip. Funny enough each time I’ve gone to Melbourne I haven’t really used my camera much. We always go just for the weekend and I’m lucky to even take 20 photos in total but I used my camera quite a bit more this time.
The only body I took was the a7C II as I believe I had already sold my a7IV at this point and almost every image here was with the 35GM aside from the one shot inside the library using my 16-35mm PZ.
One thing I’m still yet to do is a sunset/blue hour long exposure down near the Southbank area. We did ge to walk around there but didn’t have the time to do a proper shot there since we only had 2 full days there. It just gives me more reason to go back but I have to admit, I wouldn’t mind living there either.
I hope you enjoy the images and once I can finish some editing I’ll have more to post.
