Why My Short Trip to Bali That Didn’t Go as Planned

Vacations for me are usually a time where I take more photos even if I’m not doing much photography prior to that.

Originally prior to this trip to Bali for 5 days I hadn’t been using my camera much (which you can probably tell from the lack of updates) so I was excited for this trip to get myself back into a photography mood but things didn’t quite go to plan.

You may notice a very small amount of images for a 5 day trip and here’s why. On the first day there I realized I had forgotten to bring a camera strap which wasn’t the end of the world but a slight annoyance. Then around 10am on the first day we decided to try rent a Moped as so many tourists seem to ride them no issue.

Rather than turn this into some long winded post I’ll cut to the point and say that I managed to crash it within 10 minutes and although I was only doing about 5-10km/hr with a helmet on I got knocked out (can’t remember much of the actual crash), my face was cut up, lip cut and swollen, I had numb teeth along with a fractured tooth (one of my teeth is still numb weeks later), bruised shoulders, cuts all over my arms, deep cut on one knee along with bruising and my other leg was heavily bruised, swollen and I found out once I was back that I had soft tissue damage in my ankle and knee so haven’t been able to walk properly.

Because of all the above I not only didn’t feel like taking photos but I was also worried about my ability to hold the camera well without a strap so barely used it the entire trip. All the photos you see are from the first hotel I stayed at in Canggu and then the resort I stayed at in Uluwatu.

Although I wasn’t able to eat properly, swim or do massages I managed to enjoy the trip in the end which is what counts I guess.
