Autumn Leaves and Cold Rainy Days

Recently we had a lot of rain but now two weeks ago I managed to get some free time to go out and shoot on the weekend.

For the image at the very top of the page, I went out for a quick walk to get some dessert and took the 85mm Art with me which I’m happy I did because I got this image. I made sure to take it from a low angle to give it more of a unique look.

Sunset is nice and early now it’s winter again (around 5:10pm) so I used some free time to go out and shoot some photos the prior day as well which you can see below.

These were taken with my Sony a7C II and FE 16-35mm PZ lens. Interestingly I have been considering selling it and getting the FE 16-25mm f/2.8 G due to its wider aperture and supposedly better IQ. For locations like the above, ‘zooming with my feet’ isn’t really possible and I felt 25mm was too wide for what I intended to capture.

Some may be happy with cropping but I personally prefer not to crop unless I have to (or creatively like 4×5 ratio). Because of this, I think I can now ignore the G.A.S and be happy with what I already have.

Nice photos! I’d be super happy with this sharpness. 😅 “Zooming with my feet” won’t work for waterfront cityscapes, cos it means going into the water. 🤣 16-35mm is an ideal focal range!

Thanks Joey and yeah for many situations a zoom is just easier. Sony do a 16mm prime again now but I’ve learnt I prefer zooms for UWA so won’t even look at it this time 🤣
