Cherry Blossoms [12/52]
This time of year is a popular time to visit Japan due to the Cherry Blossoms. When we booked our trip, we knew there was a chance we could see them but didn’t revolve the whole vacation around them. In saying that, we got really lucky as we seen some in almost every single city we visited! For the technical aspect, this was shot with the Sony Alpha a7IV and…

Himeji Castle [11/52]
One of the locations we visited while in Japan was Himeji which is the second largest city of the Hyogo Prefecture. The main reason we visited here is because it’s very close to Kobe and my sister in law both lives and works here. I’m usually into big cities only but it was quite nice for such a small place. As soon as you get out of the train station…

Lake Kawaguchiko [10/52]
I just got back from my vacation in Japan, hence the delay to these posts. I was continuously shooting while away so I still got the shots each week, I just didn’t want to post without being able to edit the images. Now onto the actual image. One of the first places we visited was Lake Kawaguchiko, the home of Mount Fuji or otherwise known as Fujisan 富士山. This is…

Adventure Awaits [5/52]
Here is the 5th entry for my 2023 52 Week Project. In 2020 we had booked a trip to Japan for my birthday in April. Obviously Covid happened so we never actually got to go. Each year since we’ve tried to book but travel restrictions stopped us until recently. As I also got married last year, this trip is now pretty much our honeymoon. We aren’t going any time soon,…

The Weekend Back
As you can probably see by this post, I’m finally back to taking photos regularly! I always find that I stop for a bit then get a resurgence and then balance it out a bit. The majority of the images here are taken with my Samyang AF 85mm f/1.4 and the FE 35mm f/1.8. The below three images were taken around Darling Harbour and Darling Square. An 85mm isn’t usually…

My First Trip to Auckland
A few weeks ago I was lucky enough to visit Auckland for the first time. This trip was mainly to attend a good friends wedding, although we stayed a few extra days to explore. I have several friends that live there and one had described Auckland as being like Perth. I have to admit that in the Uber ride to our hotel, it did seem really quite despite being a…

Blue Mountains Botanical Gardens
During the Easter break, I visited the Blue Mountains here in New South Wales for the first time. It’s just over 100km from the CBD but as you have to pass through some residential areas, it takes just under 2 hours to get there. My main reason for wanting to visit was the trees and autumn colored leaves. Back in Perth, I knew some really good places (not Kings Park)…

Hawaii
Despite it being nearly two months since I was there, here are the photos from my Hawaii trip. I was only there two days so there aren’t as many as San Francisco.

San Francisco People
Below are some street photos from my trip to San Francisco. Street photography is one of my favorite genres so I was happy to give it a try with a Wide Angle compared to my usual 85mm. And just for fun to finish things off, here’s a photo my girlfriend took of me pretending to look like a lost tourist.
